Liming - tanning
The liming and tanning processes are the very first processing phases of the raw hide and are carried out inside wooden drums that act on the raw material to remove the hair and make it workable. Good tanning through controlled and standardised processes ensures extremely top-quality products that can be used in various sectors.
With the aid of state-of-the-art machinery, the hide undergoes a splitting process, which means it is carefully divided into two or more layers: the grain, which is the upper layer of the hide, and the split, which is the lower layer. The grain is considered to be of higher quality as it is softer and more durable than the split.

Retanning - dyeing
Retanning provides new fullness to the hide, while dyeing is a process performed at the end in order to colour the surface of the hide. Modern tanneries have automated control systems to monitor each individual dyeing process.
Sammying the hides allows excess water to be removed, after which drying completes the entire process. This phase gives the hides specific chemical and physical properties while maintaining their original quality.
