Hides purchased as rawhides are checked at the time of delivery through the customary evaluation during which the weight is checked and sample inspections are performed on both the grain and flesh specification.
Sample inspections are performed on the surface of the tanned hides, and then divided into first grade hide when precise characteristics highlight the quality, followed by second and third grades.
The wet blue is also carefully selected in order to classify the grade according to cut, possible defects and thickness of the hide. Each batch of hides is finally inspected and selected semi-finished before proceeding to the finishing phase.
